Overview
In 2007, Fast Track Sailing was appointed the role of Communications Agency for the Weymouth and National Sailing Academy, the 2012 Olympic Games sailing venue.
our role
Fast Track Sailing is principally tasked to actively raise the profile of WPNSA and improve their image within the local community, through promotion of the venue as a professional and amateur sailing and conference centre.
activity
Fast Track Sailing’s PR division, in conjunction with WPNSA affiliates, has developed widespread coverage of the venue through effective event management and liaison with national, regional, marine and lifestyle press and broadcasters. This action has effectively raised the profile of WPNSA, and improved their standing within the community, becoming a centre of interest in the South West.
RESULTS
Extensive local, national and international media coverage has raised the profile of the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, both as the 2012 Olympic venue and as a reputable centre within the local community. In addition, the Academy, together with its sponsor Scottish and Southern Energy, won the 2008 Environmental Concern in Sport Award. The venue was also shortlisted for the 2010 Sport Industry Award ‘Venue of the Year’ award. In December 2010 the Academy set a new Guinness World Record for the ‘largest parade of boats'. The largest parade of boats consisted of 318 Optimist dinghies at an event organised by WPNSA in Portland Harbour in Portland, England, UK, on 25 July 2010.
